Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS)

You will receive a notice from the Lifeline Administrator with details about re-verifying your Lifeline service. Assist Wireless will also send text message reminders.

The Lifeline Administrator, USAC, launched the “National Verifier” eligibility tool and requires reverification of all Lifeline subscribers through the National Verifier.

The reminders that you were sent by mail and/or text message will include details regarding your re-verification deadline. We recommend beginning the re-verification process as soon as possible to assure no interruption to your service benefits. If you need to check your re-verification status, call (800) 234-9473 Monday through Sunday, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM ET (press 1 for English or press 2 for Spanish).

The Lifeline administrator will send you a letter outlining specific requests to submit proof of eligibility such as:

  • Proof of eligibility
  • Proof of social security number
  • Proof of date of birth
  • Lifeline application form
  • Proof of valid address
  • One-per-household worksheet

Simply submit photocopies or pictures of all the requested items listed in your unique letter. Copies or pictures can be made by a scanner, copy machine, camera, or smartphone. Upload the copies/pictures along with your online reverification form.

Failure to submit documents of your Lifeline eligibility may result in the mandatory disconnection of your Assist Wireless account and service by the Lifeline Program Administrator.

No. Recertification is required of all Lifeline participants once a year to validate and renew service. Reverification is required of select lifeline participants which USAC has chosen to be processed at this time. You will not be required to complete reverification on an annual basis.

You will still need to complete reverification even if you have already recertified. Reverification is separate from annual recertification.

You will still need to complete annual recertification even after reverification. Reverification is separate from annual recertification.

You were mailed a reverification notice from the Lifeline administrator, USAC. Included in that letter was a list of documents required to complete your reverification. If you have provided every item in your letter then you are finished! If any further documents are required you will be notified by USAC.

If you need to check your re-verification status, call (800) 234-9473 Monday through Sunday, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM ET (press 1 for English or press 2 for Spanish).

The Lifeline administrator, USAC, will review the form and documentation you submitted. Shortly after you will be notified if your verification was successful or if further documents are required.

If you have moved since your last Lifeline eligibility recertification (or initial application, if with Assist for less than 1 year), you will need to make sure your address is updated with Assist Wireless. You can update your address here or call 855-392-7747.

Only one Lifeline discount is permitted per household, so failure to update your address could result in disconnection of your Lifeline service.
